The SSH Competence Centre (SSH CC) is a community-based virtual hub dedicated to fostering research excellence through training and knowledge transfer in the field of Social Science and Humanities (SSH). It is operated by the SSH Open Science Cluster (SSHOC) as part of the wider network of thematic competence centres of the five Science Clusters.  These thematic cluster CCs were initiated within the OSCARS project in order to provide expertise, best practices and services for the uptake of Open Science, and to promote cross-disciplinary collaborations.

Following this approach, the SSH Competence Centre is envisioned to cover the following competences:

  1. Connecting the SSH Research Communities to Digital Infrastructures for Research through making a large suite of tools and services accessible that have been developed to support research activities in SSH and help researchers improve data literacy competences.
  2. Training and Capacity Building:  sharing knowledge to support the SSH research communities and data stewards/curators.
  3. Producing and sharing guidelines and best practices related to the adoption of Open Science in SSH.
  4. SSH Community Engagement and Technical Support.

The SSH Open Cluster member organisations, some of whom are also partners in the OSCARS project, will continue to work on the development of this virtual Competence Centre, making sure that its ambition and structure and the SSHOC Priorities and Annual Work Plans approved by the Cluster Governing Board are well aligned.
