Greetings to you!
It's been a long time since our last newsletter and we're bursting with three months' worth of news! So you can expect issue No. 6 to be a wild ride! The launch of the SSH Open Marketplace with its own consultation platform for testers, and an explainer video - which we're proud to present for the first time right here - is only one of the stories on offer. Scroll through and take your pick from the titles or get comfortable, hold on to your hat, and enjoy a lightning-fast guided tour through the most important developments project-wide! If you're checking in from the comfort of a reclining chair on a distant beach or mountain top, happy holidays!
After months of preparation, the official launch of the SSH Open Marketplace took place on 30 June at a dedicated workshop which was part of the ICTeSSH online conference. In the spirit of collaboration which has characterised the development of the Marketplace to date, the bulk of the workshop was delivered by carefully selected testers from the SSH community who had put the new platform through its paces for a full week before the event, and presented their findings.
Formal conference proceedings will be published shortly. In the mean time, a full recording of the workshop is available here with copies of the speaker presentations.
Ongoing user testing will be an integral part of development activities leading to the release of the public Beta version of the SSH Open Marketplace in December 2020. Until then, the Marketplace will be accessible only to registered testers who will communicate directly with developers using an online consultation platform designed and built by SSHOC project partners. Via the consultation platform, testers will make a concrete contribution to the further development of the Marketplace in three key areas:
Play a role in creating the discovery portal which will transform the landscape for SSH researchers across Europe! Register as a tester now!
The SSH Open Market development team has also begun a series of presentation and Q and A sessions with individual user communities. The presentation slides from our first consultation with the DARIAH community which took place via webinar on 3 July are available here. A post-event blogpost has been published on the DARIAH website here. Dates for upcoming meetings will be announced shortly.
For additional information about the SSH Open Marketplace, read this article, which is choc full of useful links to earlier articles and other resources, view the poster we presented at EOSC-hub week in May, or watch our brand new video right here! We had a lot of fun creating the video and are keen to know what you think of it! Hit us up @SSHOpenCloud if you liked it - and also if you didn't! Thanks!
